You’re smart, capable, and hard-working… But you still can’t create the income or lifestyle you want? Read this.

Once upon a time, there was a girl we’ll call Emma. Emma crushed it in school, and when she entered the workforce—same. She showed up early, stayed late, went above and beyond. People respected her. They trusted her. And she heard it all the time:

“You’ve got so much potential!”

And she believed them. She felt it, too. Which is why it was so maddening that all that potential wasn’t helping her create the income or lifestyle she actually wanted.

She didn’t want to be trapped in a 9-to-5. She wanted to work for herself and do her own thing. And she didn’t want a capped income, either—only able to make what a boss or higher-up said was allowed.

She wanted more freedom in every way. And she felt like she had the potential to build that life (not to mention she kept hearing about her damn potential), but there she was, working harder than ever, and…

...her business / career still wasn’t getting traction.
...the income still wasn’t coming.
...the life she knew she was meant for still felt out of reach.

She felt trapped inside her good-but-not-what-she-actually-wanted life.

Sound familiar?

Insert sigh of relief here—because I’m about to explain this in a way no one else has. You’re not stuck. You’re just trying to win a new game using old rules.

I’ll explain...

Traditional systems reward effort

In school and corporate life, you were trained to do more. Come early, stay late, pick up the slack, be a team player, check every box, overachieve until someone gives you a gold star and says, “great job.”

It was a system that rewarded structure, compliance, and output. And I have no doubt you were amazing at it.

But if you want to step out of that system and build something of your own—impact and income on your terms, a business and brand that feels totally YOU, a whole different lifestyle with way more freedom—you hit the same wall:

The old system no longer works, the old rules no longer apply, and the old safety nets are now anchors, because the results and life you want to create now don’t come from effort—they come from value.

Now, no one’s grading you. No one’s giving you an A for effort. The market doesn’t care how many hours you worked this week.

It responds to boldness, not hiding. It rewards value, not busyness. It responds to who you are—not just how much you do.

And the more you try to outwork that problem, the more stuck you feel. And then the self-doubt creeps in, which dims your light even more.

“Everyone says I’m full of potential… why can’t I unlock it?!”

Gahhhhh! I’ve been there! I've felt the depth of that frustration to my core.

I was doing everything “right” and still felt completely stuck. I was trying all the things—all the strategies, all the industries, all the kinds of reels (painful).

And nothing was landing. Nothing felt right. Nothing got traction. My income wasn’t growing the way I wanted. Freedom felt impossibly far away. And the impact and influence I craved felt out of reach entirely, no matter how hard I worked or how consistently I showed up.

I started to get real sick of people telling me how much potential I had. Yeah, thanks, Susan, but what do I do with that? Because I’m over here working my ass off, supposedly all full of potential, and not getting anywhere near where I want to go. I can’t pay my mortgage with potential…

Here’s what I finally learned (and what no one tells you when you're looking for answers):

It’s not about finding the right strategy, it’s about becoming the woman who can make any strategy she wants work for her. It’s not just about what you’re doing, it’s about who you’re being.

Your internal patterns and programs—your brain and habits—are running the show

If you’ve spent most of your life in systems that rewarded effort (school, sports, the entire traditional 9-to-5 system, basically all the places most of us spend all our waking hours at least until adulthood, and sometimes forever), your brain was literally wired to create success by hustling harder, proving your worth, and staying inside the lines.

Now that you’re trying to step into something totally new—starting or growing a business, making more money, designing a life with way more freedom, on your terms—your brain won’t just automatically get on board because you decide that’s the new plan.

Why?

Because that new way of working and living is unfamiliar. And to your brain, unfamiliar = UNSAFE.

Your brain’s primary job isn’t to help you be successful—it’s to help you stay safe. So instead of helping you become who you need to be to create your next level (which would be unfamiliar, so: “unsafe”), your brain tries to help you create that next level of success in the only “safe” way it knows:

By slamming on the gas in the only direction it’s familiar with—your old patterns, programs, and habits.

Basically, your brain says, “Okay, sure, let’s do this! We’ll go HARD… but only in the ways that feel safe.”

So you hustle. You grind. You double down on the habits that got you straight A’s, glowing performance reviews, and recognition in traditional systems. Habits like…

  • Keeping your head down and working harder than everyone else
  • Following the rules to a T
  • Staying small and polished instead of bold and visible
  • Seeking approval before taking risks

And all those things worked in the old system, because school and corporate life reward structure, effort, and staying inside the lines.

But now, you’re trying to create freedom, not follow rules. You’re trying to design your life, not live inside someone else’s structure. You want to build income and impact on your own terms—which means becoming someone new.

And your brain won’t let you. It keeps rerouting you back to what’s familiar—because familiar = safe—even though it’s not working and keeping you stuck. So you end up working your ass off, but spinning your wheels. Exhausted. Frustrated. Wondering why nothing is clicking—even though you’re trying so hard.

Sound familiar?

Here’s the truth: You’re trying to create a new life using the rules that created your old one. That’s why it’s not working.

You’re working really hard—you’re just not doing the kind of work that moves the needle in the reality you’re trying to create. You’re operating from your old programming. You’re doing what you know creates success—it’s just not the kind of success you want anymore.

You don’t need another strategy. And for the love, you do not need to keep working harder. You need new internal wiring. New internal patterns and programs. A whole new operating system. A new way of being, not just doing.

YES, the version of you who succeeded in school and corporate life is amazing. She got you here. Go, her!

But she’s not the one who’s going to build your next chapter.

That requires an internal shift. That requires new patterns and programs. That requires a different identity.

The reason you feel stuck

You’re trying to create new success in an old way. You’re trying to become someone new, without letting go of the (very cozy, very safe) version of who you’ve been.

Because that’s scary as hell. (Yeahhh, 1000% get it!)

But here's the thing—the reason your hard work hasn’t been working is because you’re still trying to be right by the wrong rules. And nothing truly changes until you let go of the old way.

So what do you do now?

You start by turning inward. You stop asking, “What else should I do?” and start asking, “Who do I need to become?”

Here are a few journal prompts to help you open this up:

  1. Where in my life am I still operating from old patterns of creating success because they feel safe?

  2. How are they keeping me small or stuck?

  3. How have I created money—and defined success—in the past? How is that different from how I want to create money and define success now?

  4. What would change if I believed it was safe for me to be way, way, way more visible—in person and online?

  5. Who is the version of me that lives the life I want to create? What does she believe, think, feel, do differently, etc.?

These questions aren’t about getting “right” answers, they’re about starting a conversation with the part of you that knows you're made for more, and is ready to let go of old patterns and stop hiding in past ways of being. AKA the part of you that’s ready to finally level up in the ways that matter to you most right now.

You’re not stuck

You just want to start playing a new game, and rules are different than the ones that helped you win in the past. Yes, it’s about doing the work—but not the kind of work you’ve been doing.

This is the work I do with my clients. We don’t just talk strategy—we transform the internal wiring that makes the strategy work. We rewire your identity so you can let go of old patterns and install new, upgraded programs that actually create the results you want.

We create the version of you who embodies the success she wants—so it becomes the natural result of who you are, not something you constantly have to chase.

You have to be willing to let go of your old ways so you can make space for new ones.

It’s time to start playing a new game, and I can’t freaking wait to help you win it.
